Intertoto Cup 2005 2Round 1Leg
RC Lens 2-1 Lech Poznan
Jussie Ferreira Vieira 18, Nicolas Gillet 44 - Krzysztof Gajtkowski 66
KKS Lech Poznan: Kotorowski - Telichowski, Mowlik, Kuś, Sasin - Zakrzewski, Świerczewski, Topolski, Wachowicz (90 Marciniak) - Reiss, Gajtkowski (90 Czarnecki).
RC Lens: Chabbert - Demont, Assou-Ekkoto, Coulibaly, Gillet, Leroy (70 Thomert), Keita, Cousin, Carri?re (70 Bakari) - Jussi?, Diarra.
Cautions: Kuś, Mowlik, Świerczewski.
Expulsion: Alou Diarra (90. RC Lens)

The second half goal by Gajtkowski has opened up the possibility of Lech actually advancing past this round. While a loss is a loss and is no reason for joyous celebration, the fact that Lech was able to finish the match with only a 1 goal deficit after an away match to the 7th team in the French Ligue1, when they were widely expected to lose by 3 or 4 goals, is reason enough to be optimistic of their chances for advancement to the third round. It will not be an easy task, but the fact that Alou Diarra, RC Lens premier striker, will miss the second leg due to a red card received for an altercation in the 90th minute, opens a small window of opportunity for the team from Poznan. The return leg will be played in Poznan on July 10th.
With some solid defending a good bounce here and there it is possible that we will see Lech in the third round of the Intertoto Cup. Good Luck!

Intertoto Cup 2005 2Round 1Leg
SK Sigma Olomouc 1, MKS Pogon Szczecin 0
35' Peter Babnic
Sigma: Lov?sik - Randa, Hudec, Kov?ř, R.Hubn?k - Špil?ček, Rojka(79' M.Hubn?k), Pečnik(66' Kopeck?), Vyskočil(60' Schulmeister), R?del - Babnič
MKS Pogon Szczecin: Pesković - Michalski, Julcimar, Magdoń, Matlak, Trałka(82' Kowal), Łabędzki, Kaźmierczak, Grzelak, Batata(59' Parzy), Milar

... Not bad considering that the opposition is a team that finished in 4th place in the Czech first division. However, since Pogon seemed to carry most of the play and had numerous opportunities to score, they may yet come to regret not converting at least one of those chances. Pogon will now have to win 2-0 or by a two-goal margin in order to advance. A 1-0 victory would merely lead to extra time. The return leg will take place on the 9th of July in Szczecin.
Good luck Pogon hopefully they can produce a two-goal win.
